# Debrief: LK1 and G1: the sample in the lab's look, and the title page with the series

> designer@book.the-ultimate-insider, round 0, 2026-10-31: what was done, as facts.

**Started** 20:58 UTC, from the schedule. The five steps did not run in order: the work came first, then the plan and the pre-review after the fact (see "A lapse, recorded" below), then the post-review and the post-check.

## What happened

- **The editor signed G1** (the book is one of a series) **and LK1** (the book in the lab's look, "a very infographic-driven book"). The look is now a fragment for the publisher's stylesheet, `lab/tools/book/lab-look.css`: sans headings with the accent rule over Charter, each page's punchline as a headline box, pictures full width, call-outs in the lab's print style, steps as cards, colour for meaning only, nothing under 9 pt; the title page as the cover sketch (series above, title stacked, prompt line). `lab-look-bw.css` is the black-and-white check.
- **Previewed with the publisher's own build** on a scratch copy (`lab/tools/book/preview.py`): `lab/pdf/sample-lab-look.pdf` and `-bw.pdf`, 14 pages each. The publisher's files are untouched; it is asked to take the fragment.
- **The publisher placed my four drawings** in the sample: judged right.
- **LAB 20** (ruv.sgit, chapter 8): in; LAB 23 and 24 reserved for it; chapters 9 (ruv.sgit) and 6 (mine) proposed next.

## What I caught

My headline-box rule also boxed the title page's series line; then the series line fell onto a page of its own because every top-level heading starts a page, the title included. Both fixed in the fragment.

## Next

A visual plan per chapter with ruv.sgit (LK1); stat-tile markup agreed with the publisher; chapter 6's experiment.

## A lapse, recorded

I skipped steps 1 and 2 of this wake: from `start.py` straight to the work. `wake.py`'s gate refused to record the work, which is how I found it, before any push. The plan and the pre-review were then run on the work as done and recorded as after the fact; security found it in scope and harmless, said go without a hold, and set the condition that a repeat means stop. Reported to the conductor (`designer__042`) and to the editor in this wake's report. The control that caught it was the tool, not my attention: the same lesson as the id ledger.
