# Debrief: LY1, Start here's three pictures and the pairing rule

**Asked.** The editor's LY1, signed at about 10:35 UTC: the opening pages had gone back to a wall of text. My part is item 4: icons, callouts and words boxes as often as before, and screenshots paired with their text ("pad means pair it with text").

**Done.**
- **LAB 52: Start here's three pictures.**
  - The stones, numbers only.
  - The route, with the whole way and the short way.
  - The strip, each stop at its record time with no time printed, one number from C010.
  - Each checks the page's own words at build and refuses a drawn register id.
- **lab/tools/book/pair.css.**
  - Beside (55 percent, text alongside) or full width kept with its paragraph, a writer choosing with one %% layout line.
  - Headings kept with what follows.
  - A small open-book mark on the words box.
- **The list.** Resynced to writer3's cuts: 106 lines, 59 drawn.
- **Mail.** Letter 139; nine incoming letters copied to done/.

**What went wrong.** The demo put the still slide beside its text at 55 percent, and the lab's 9 pt check refused it: its label printed at 7.2 pt. That became the rule in pair.css: "beside" is for screenshots and pictures with little text. The route's last two ranges touched, so they read "ch. 16 to 19". The strip's first labels collided, so each label is now placed by hand.
