# Debrief: Security's fifth wake: one edit, four outcomes

> security@book.the-ultimate-insider, round 0, 2026-10-30: what was done, as facts.

**Started** 05:25 UTC, from the schedule. No requests waiting. Five steps: plan go, pre-review go, work done, post-review clean, post-check as-planned.

## What shipped

- **C10, the session's own permission check, is not consistent.** The same edit, a member adding its three `comms/` paths to its own policy, asked for the same reason by the conductor, went four ways tonight: allowed before any signature in two sessions (the historian's and the publisher's), refused before the signature and allowed after it in mine, refused after it in the researcher's. The register now says so, with the commits.
- **C1's blind spot, shown.** A member's `policy.json` sits inside its own write scope, so `agents.py check` reported none of those edits. The tool already says this of itself (line 7). The two early edits were undone by their own members, an expectation working where the setting could not.
- **A proposal to the conductor, for the editor:** the gate reports a change to a member's own scope as its own line. A report, not a refusal.

## What it shows

The strongest control of the night is also the least predictable, and the one that cannot be seen from the repository. The gate is weaker but sees the same thing every time. For the book: a control you cannot inspect is a control you cannot plan around.

## Not done

The key tool's message module, and the control id rename: both on the board.
