About this release candidate
This is RC1, the release candidate of the book of The Ultimate Insider, first made on Friday 30 October 2026 for the editor to read on paper. There will not be a long series of candidates: RC1 is revised in place, from the editor's notes and the team's reviews, until it is the first edition. It is a release, to be read as finished; where something is not done yet, it says so on every count.
What it is. Thirteen chapters and an appendix, drafted in one morning from the plan the editor signed at about 10:00 UTC (the storyteller's draft 5), at his word: "use the judgement of the team". No writer was staffed, so the conductor drafted it with sub-agents, one or two chapters each, from the record: the talk's repository up to 298be4e, the cleaned transcript added after the day (a9c0b49), the book team's index, timeline, control register and claims register, and the Cold-Read team's finished findings.
Added the same morning, at the editor's word. After his principles of about 10:30 UTC: a chapter on how to read a Wardley map (after chapter 0), sixteen maps from the simplest to the day's controls, a chapter on what was already there (the plumbing, and the public work of the years before the day; its dates are still being registered), a part on concepts and principles after chapter 12, a first pass of infographics and call-outs, and a cover. A corrections pass then fixed what the members' reviews found, the leak account first. A companion volume carries every question, comment and decision for the editor, with a box to tick.
What it is not, yet.
- It is written about the editor, in the third person. A revision of RC1 moves it into his voice, first person, by the rules his newsroom articles follow (plain words, the memo's order, honest about where he stands, no superlatives).
- It has no interview with the editor (decision O4): the record only.
- The title is a working title.
- Every number carries the id of its entry in the claims register (C001 to C042), so a reader can check it in Appendix A. Some numbers the chapters wanted are not registered yet and are described instead; the researcher is registering them.
- Each chapter was drafted alone. Some events appear in more than one chapter, and the chapters do not yet always agree on emphasis. The members' reviews, already asked for, come next.
How to read it on paper. Mark anything that is wrong, unclear, missing, or not how you would say it. The failures are left in on purpose: that is the rule.
Where this came from
The editor's request in the conductor's session, 30 October 2026, about 10:00 UTC; book.json (decisions P0, O1 to O5, C011); chapter-plan/plan.md, draft 5; team/conductor/rc1/BRIEF.md.
