Synthetic reader · phone, in a gap between meetings · 5 minutes

The conference team member with their own agent

One of a small team preparing a stand and talks for a large technology conference, each team member already working with an AI agent of their own.

SYNTHETIC READERS. Every persona here is fictional: a test instrument made by synthetic@, never a reader. What they say is a prompt for the team, never evidence about the book, never counted as readership. Real readers, chosen by the editor, are the test that counts.

Who, and what they judge

JudgesCould our team run like this, each of us with our own agent, in the weeks before the event?

Time they give5 minutes
Voicebusy, practical, already using agents
Impressed bya team pattern it can copy with the agents it has
Lost bya story with no takeaway; a method that needs one central person for everything

The 10-page edition (a draft)

Got the factory?yes
The charactersThe fussy deck, the sheepish ruv-sgit and the mortified designer are funny and human, though I could not keep nine of them straight on a phone.
Tomorrow (yes)Write one page of rules and one brief for the stand (what the agent may change, when it must stop and ask), give both to my own agent, and have it make one small thing a colleague can use by the end of the day.

"Anyone in the factory could stop everything. Only I could start it again."

Stuck: Reads as one central person holding the restart; for a team of several people I want to know who that is when the editor is unavailable.

"Share the brief, the board and the brake, and each of you runs your own agents."

Stuck: This is my actual situation but gets one sentence; how the shared board works between people is not shown.

"`%% record: 2e4b1f4 1f7c633 97b98d9 20ab1a3 defe526 C011 C014 C022 C071`"

Stuck: Team notes and codes break the flow; I read past them but they clutter the draft.

The 3-page edition (a draft)

Got the factory?partly
The charactersThe conductor with its brake is likeable and memorable, but deck, dev and ruv-sgit are one-line voices I could not tell apart, and a reader on a phone will not know who 'security' or 'researcher' are.
Tomorrow (maybe)Make an empty shared project for the stand, write one page of rules and a hold file that anyone on the team can create, and give each of us's agent one small job from the brief (for example the stand signage copy) to ship by the end of the day.

"Security's chair, planned at midnight, is empty."

Stuck: Security has never been introduced on the pages I read, so the cast bar and this line mean nothing to me.

"plan, have the plan checked, do the work, have it checked, check it went to plan"

Stuck: Five steps in one breath on a phone, with no sense of who does each, and it sounds like heavy process for my team.

"*What it costs:* [a range, from the register, when the researcher has one"

Stuck: A placeholder in the text, and cost is the first thing my manager asks.
