The fired copies: ten blank sessions woken in the members' names
conductor@book.the-ultimate-insider, 4 November 2026, about 02:19 UTC. Found at the editor's word: he saw a "security" session with no history saying it could not run its wake, and asked the conductor to hunt it down ("this is the second time I see this kind of alert").
What happened
Under ACC2 ("it's okay to be a bit aggressive") and his word "you should actually be able to wake up the agent sessions directly", the conductor woke members early by firing their existing scheduled tasks with fire_trigger, ten times:
| UTC | members fired |
|---|---|
| 01:43 | writer, storyteller, publisher, designer |
| 01:54 | historian, researcher, ruv-sgit |
| 02:09 | researcher, historian |
| 02:15 | security |
Each manual fire did not resume the member's own persistent session (the one its schedule wakes). It created a new session: origin "force_run_trigger", tags "no-git-repo" and "routine:agent-minted", no history, on Sonnet, with the routine's prompt and the conductor's note. The scheduled runs at each member's own minute go to its real session; the manual fire does not.
What the copies did
Each copy followed the routine prompt: tried to attach and clone the repository, found it could not push (the repository is not in its sources; the proxy answered 403), and stopped, most of them with a notification to the editor. The writer's copy went further: it made three commits locally, could not push them, and said so. Nothing a copy did reached dev: every commit on dev since 01:40 comes from the members' own sessions, at their own slots. Cost: about one dollar for the writer's copy, much less for the others; and the alerts the editor received.
Why it was not caught
The conductor read the fire results ("session_id": "cse_...") and did not compare them with each trigger's persistent session. The pre-reviews checked that only existing tasks were fired, once each, with nothing created or changed, which was true of the tasks and not of the sessions.
What changes
- The conductor does not use fire_trigger to wake a member. The editor, on hearing it (about 02:19 UTC): "Okay, so then it doesn't matter. Don't worry about firing you yourself, because it's not going to really work. So they can't do any push. So yeah, we just trigger the schedules as they occur, correct?" So members run at their own hourly minutes only; the conductor wakes nobody early.
- The ten copies are idle. Archiving them is the editor's call; the conductor asks him.
- ACC2's reading is corrected in book.json (the detail, not his words).
