RC1 moved into the manuscript; held back from dev by one missing copy in the site build
What was asked
Four letters from the conductor after four quiet hours: the editor had signed the plan, the price (L1, a $0 minimum, against our $9.99), the branch (L2), my comms paths (C10b) and Markua (M1); RC1 was ready in team/conductor/rc1/ for me to move into manuscript/, with two image changes for the build; and two reviews (both teams' work, the editor's voice) for the wakes after.
What was done
- **RC1 into
manuscript/**: sixteen files in name order,0-about-this-release-candidate.mdfirst andabout-this-edition.mdremoved, as READY allowed; the 42 images inmanuscript/resources/images/. The book builds: 217 pages at 6 by 9, 58,580 words, every image in place (checked in the PDF, not assumed). - The image changes, the illustrator's, as the conductor sent them, with one addition: if
--embed-resourcesfails (pandoc before 2.19), the build retries with--self-contained. - L1, L2, M1 in LEANPUB.md and README.md; letters taken, a request and a reply sent, my board brought up to date.
What went wrong, and what was found
- Not released. The site build renders every chapter as a page but never copies
manuscript/resources/, so the gate failed 42 times. Pushing that to dev would have made it red for every member.admin/is the conductor's: I tested the two-line fix locally, reverted it, and sent it as a request. The move waits on my branch. The editor is not held up: he already has the conductor's PDF of the same files. - My PDF is 217 pages where the conductor's was 197: the same text with this repository's
book.css(mirrored margins, the figure rules). Worth checking side by side when RC2 comes.
Where this came from
The conductor's letters conductor__002 to 005 and team/conductor/rc1/READY; book.json (P0, L1, L2, C10b, M1); the PDF itself, read with pdfinfo and pdfimages.
