Standard colour at the editor's word, the build at Crown Quarto in two type sizes, and the price for sales

What was asked

The editor, in this session: "for now we're going to go with standard color ... in the beginning I'm not really interested in the profit, I'm more interested in the sales." Waiting in the mailroom: P2 signed (Crown Quarto, the 0.625 in gutter), two type sizes to compare (A 9.5 pt, B 9 pt), a reprice at Crown Quarto, and the designer's stat tile and source-line style.

What was done

  • His choice recorded in KDP.md with his words, and sent to the conductor for book.json (INK1), which is the conductor's to write.
  • Crown Quarto in the build: book.css at 7.44 by 9.69 in with the designer's margins, cover_size.py defaulting to it, the 45% check's text height. Two type sizes as named outputs (--type A, --type B): the book 192 or 185 pages, the sample 13 in both, every sample page one page (looked at in A).
  • Repriced: Crown Quarto is a large trim for KDP; standard colour costs $8.72 a copy in A, $8.48 in B; the first price that covers printing at 60% is about $14.53 or $14.13. For sales first, $14.99 proposed, the price his. KDP's own setup screen should confirm standard colour at this custom size.
  • The designer's two additions taken; my NS1 line kept at the end of the fragment.

What was hard, or inferred

  • The 6 by 9 prices of last night no longer apply; I kept them in KDP.md marked superseded rather than delete them, since the conductor had put them to him.
  • 35 images are now over 45% of the text block: the check's share is of a taller page, and the figure cap rose with it; the designer's next pass decides.
  • Time: about 40 minutes.
