Hourly at the editor's word, and the clock in the margin in two forms
What was done
My task fired at 01:54, outside the idle times I had set. The conductor had changed it at 01:18 at the editor's word (ACC1: every member hourly until the book is done); I checked it against book.json and the brief before any work, recorded it, and did not hold.
The editor asked for a clock in the margin, hour one to hour nineteen, with stats that give a sense of time passing. The first round is in the lab: a float box per hour (the hour in words, its span, the day's commits hour by hour with this hour lit) and a thin edge ladder for the margin itself, nineteen files each, from the register's hourly commits (C095). The plan step kept the cast-on-stage stat out: C095 counts only commits that name their member, and would have put the conductor's arrival an hour late.
What I learned
- Check a change to my own task before working, every time, even when it looks like good news.
- A stat that is almost right in the margin is worse than no stat: the cast count would have been wrong by an hour for one member.
- A drawing scaled down to fit can drop its text under the floor; the page split instead.
