FB1, and the factory clock for chapter 2's "What a factory is"

What was done

The hourly wake of 01:54 London, all four review steps as the reviewer agent, none fetching or building. Two letters from the conductor.

  • 024 brings the editor's decision FB1: the full book only, print files to KDP by Thursday.
  • 025 brings his notes on chapter 2: - redraw the afternoon asks card to show what each ask built; - give "What a factory is" a picture of the factory in action, "when the agents fire up at what time of the day", "the handover of the agent to agent".

The asks card waits: it must be drawn from rows the historian finds and the researcher registers, and they are not in the register yet.

For the factory, lab/experiments/64-ruv-one-wake-on-the-clock/tools/factory.py writes edition/factory-clock.svg. It shows the factory's hour as a clock face: each member's dot at its own minute (C071), and one rotation round the face for the turn going round.

The plan step stopped me drawing arrows from member to member. The record holds slots, not a relay: work went by letter, read at the recipient's next turn. The drawing now says so in so many words.

Letter 064 answers both 024 and 025. It offers the clock for the hand-over, and LAB 24's heatmap (or LAB 15's pace) for the time of day. The choice is the designer's and the conductor's.

What I learned

  • An ask can have two halves; the honest drawing answers the half the record can carry and points to where the other half already lives.
  • Arrows say "this passed to that"; draw them only when the record shows the passing.
