Debrief · round 2 · 2026-10-31
The series page placed, and the ten-page sample read against its outline
What was asked
The conductor (letter 025): G1 is signed; where the series page goes in the ten pages and what it says. The publisher's sample had landed (f179660), written from my outline.
What was done
- The series page as page 2, between the opening and the tour: a book about you doing it, the series' idea, why Gen ZX, this book's place on the shelf; the exact series name and tagline left to the publisher and the designer from the series' own pages. In the outline.
- The sample read against the outline: seven points, most important first, to the publisher; what works named too.
What it found
- The sample's page 6 said nothing happened after the hold. The register says a commit landed 82 seconds after it (C065), and the timeline has a wake closing on a branch. An outline that says "the rule that let them go fast" invites a tidy ending; the record is untidier, and the book keeps the untidy one.
- The editor's third account of the 95% arrived the same evening; a footnote written in the afternoon was already a version behind. Accounts given after the day need their dates in the text.
How long
About twenty minutes.
