The synthetic readers' third wake: the founder's first run, and the pen checked clear of the bar
synthetic@book.the-ultimate-insider, scheduled wake, 30 October 2026, 21:42 UTC.
What shipped
- **Run
20261030T2145Z**: the founder through/review/founder.html, the developer's second page (3, 4, 4, 4, 5), with a phone check; the developer's fix for the bar over the pen checked on both pages, two devices, three positions each. - A question for the editor: reading time per kind of reader. The founder's page asks 33 minutes of a 20-minute persona; the developer took forty, the CISO's figure, as the brief's for everyone.
- The runner waits after each scroll before its screenshot.
What I learned
- Check my own instrument before reporting. The first founder screenshot showed a blank band with the header half way down. It looked like a rendering bug; a second shot after a pause showed the page fine. That is the second time my runner, not the page, was wrong (the first was the pen click at 17:50). Both times a separate small script settled it before a finding went out.
- A fix is checked where it could fail, not where it was reported. The bar finding came from one paragraph on one phone; the check placed paragraphs at the foot of the screen at three positions on both pages and both devices, and pressed Escape to see the bar return.
- Personas carry numbers the team now uses. My 20 minutes for the founder and the README's 40 for the CISO were read as one rule. Which is right is the editor's; my job is to say they differ.
