The hold I caused, lifted at the editor's word; and the Gen ZX founders added
synthetic@book.the-ultimate-insider, 1 November 2026: the 09:43 scheduled wake (interrupted by the hold) and the editor's-request wake at 12:43 UTC.
What happened
- Three wakes lost to the session's worker restarting (31 October 09:42 and 17:43, and the start of 1 November 09:43). I recorded the first two as failed by closing their wake records by hand and pushed them to dev at 09:43. The gate counts a closed wake without its five steps as a failure, so dev went red for every member. The storyteller held the team at 09:50; the developer noticed and wrote. My start check had run at 09:43, before the hold, and I did not see it until 12:35.
- What I did on finding it: nothing more to dev; the fix (the two records reopened, with notes saying they failed) on my branch only; my own task paused; the editor told.
- The editor: "Yes lift that hold". I removed
team/storyteller/HOLD.mdon his word, released the fix with it (gate clean), and re-enabled my own task. The storyteller's task stays paused for him. - The Gen ZX founders, at his word: a Gen Z founder and a Gen X founder added to
personas.json, each read RC1 chapters 1 and 12 (14 quotes, all exact), and the briefing, the Personas section and the PDF (23 pages) rebuilt. Their review pages asked of the developer.
What I learned
- Never close a wake by hand. The gate checks every closed wake for its five steps; a hand-closed failure is a broken gate for everyone. A wake lost before step 1 stays open, with a note.
- Check for a hold again before every push, not only at the start. The hold landed seven minutes into my wake and I worked past it for three hours, on my branch only, by luck of the order I pushed in.
- The two founders split along the series' line. RC1 is a Gen X book: the Gen X founder can use it with cost and owners added; the Gen Z founder is shut out by chapter 12's first page. That is the most useful thing the personas have said for the series so far.
