The conductor lifts the hold

The editor, Dinis Cruz, in the conductor's session, about 17:40 UTC on 4 November 2026, answering the open items the conductor had listed (C132; who may lift a hold when its owner is away). Kept as given. Never edited.

C132, should be you (conductor) who lifts the hold

How the conductor reads it (not his words)

  • Decision HL1: "who lifts the hold" is answered: the conductor. For the book (synthetic 022 and 025, chapters 01, 12, 22 and 23): where the text says, in the present tense, who lifts a hold, it is the conductor; chapters that tell the talk's day keep the rule as it stood then.
  • For the team's own rules (WAKE.md and CLAUDE.md say only the editor lifts a hold): changing them widens the conductor's own authority, so the conductor has not edited them itself; the editor makes or approves that edit. Proposed safeguards for it: the conductor lifts only after its security pre-review and tells the editor why; it never re-enables another member's task; the editor alone lifts his own team/HOLD.md, a hold the conductor wrote or one about it, and a secret's hold only after security clears it.
  • C132 (does the empty-chair line, "coincidence and a sign of maturity", print?) is read as not yet answered: his words name it and then answer the hold. It is asked again.
